Meet A & L Potato Co.
The Boushey brothers (Albert and Lawrence) established A & L Potato Co. in 1941 with the intention to deliver the best quality red potatoes. Today, their decedents are still delivering on that purpose. Meet A & L Potato Co., a fourth-generation family farm headquartered in East Grand Forks, Minn. in a region known as the Red River Valley. This special region was once the bottom of the ancient Lake Agassiz. The dark, rich soil is heavy in organic matter which gives red potatoes that deep, lustrous coloring. With a focus on quality, you can be sure the red and yellow potatoes from A & L will be a beautiful and tasty addition to any family meal!
Potato Market Update
The russet potato market continues to be on fire in Idaho. Harvest is complete, and now we know that the size of the crop will be small. Along with the fresh sector being short on product, the processing sector also appears to be very short on product. Pricing continues to climb on all sizes. Demand is robust in all non-Idaho shipping areas. Pricing will continue to rise throughout all regions.
Red potato growers across the region are shipping red potatoes. It is a great time to promote red potatoes!
Yellow potato demand continues to be very strong. All major shipping areas are reporting tremendous demand with regular pricing.
Not much has changed in the white potato market. It appears that growers in the Northeast continue to supply both the Northeast and Southeast (the two most significant regions for white potato demand in the US).
The demand for fingerling potatoes remains steady in all shipping regions. No areas appear too long on supplies, and pricing remains very strong.
Onion Market Update
Harvest has now wrapped up in the Columbia Basin and Idaho. Overall quality is reported as excellent on all three colors, while overall yields are down. Demand remains steady as we head into November and Thanksgiving ads.
Medium-sized onions are in excellent supply, as well as jumbo and medium-sized white onions. Please reach out to your RPE sales representative for your onion needs.
