Grilled Onion Packages

Prep: 20 min. •  Cook: 25-35 min. •  Serves: 6


  • 3 large red, yellow or white Biggins® onions (9 to 11 ounces each), peeled and trimmed
  • 6 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh herbs such as rosemary, sage, thyme or tarragon
  • 1 tbsp. dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp. balsamic vinegar


Heat charcoal or gas grill to medium. Cut each onion in half horizontally. With a sharp pointed knife, cut a hole, about 1-inch wide and ½-inch deep, in top of each onion. Place each onion on a piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil, about 12x14-inches. Combine remaining ingredients and drizzle over onions. Fold edges of foil together to seal tightly. Place packets on grill.

Heat covered on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill over medium coals until tender, 25-35 minutes. Remove packets from grill. Fold foil back carefully before serving.
